Fabric,Flies,Fish and Chips

I love local markets. They have such weird and wonderful things you can find and see. Me, my mum, my auntie and my cousin went to the markets this weekend and it was a glorious day for it as well. The school holidays had just started so they had a few things going on for children all around the town center. I obviously wanted to make a video of the day so I took my camera, and got a few dodgy looks from the stall owners and other people. We specifically went to have a look at fabrics and laces to match with outfits, and although we didn't find what we were looking for it was a lovely day out. To top it all off we got fish and chips with curry sauce before we went home.

Strawberry Jam and Coconut Cake

Who remembers school dinner from primary school? Do you also remember the cakes the you used to get with strawberry jam and coconut on top with custard. Well for a bit of nostalgia me and my sister decided to make it. For the actual cake we just used a basic sponge recipe which you can find on her blog here. Once the cake is cooled you just spread the top with your choice of jam (we chose strawberry) and sprinkle it with dessicated coconut. It's such a simple yet effective way to decorate not just a cake but cupcakes as well.

Vintage Tea Party

The other day me and few of the ladies in my family attended a charity Vintage Tea Party at The Living Room in Manchester. It was hosted by Islamic Help who are a volunteer run charity and are the founders of the Smiles Better campaign. The Smiles Better campaign works with people who have been victims of acid burns. They help victims who live in counties that don't have the adequate medical and legal help to restore their lives after these horrific attacks. They have other charity events going on through out the year if vintage tea parties aren't your thing just check out their website or Facebook page to find out what they are doing next. Unfortunately we had to leave a bit early but here are a few pictures from the event:

The Garden Centre

Recently me and my mum went to our local garden center for no particular reason other than to just have a look around.  I know that doesn't sound like the most exciting way to spend a sunny saturday afternoon but I love going to the garden center. I think because it's not just about the plants, flowers and other general gardening tools. It's full of inspiration for your home, for crafting, for you pets and much more. You can find some really quaint and quirky things at garden centers, so check out your local one and see what goodies you can find.

Note: I didn't take my camera so these are just pictures from my phone

Sunshine

Today was an absolutely beautiful day. The sun was shining, it was a bank holiday, I had a day off work so I took full advantage of the relaxation time. We spent most of the day in the garden, even my grandma, who doesn't really get out, sat in the garden for a bit. Me and my mum went out for a bit and en route home we stopped off at supermarket and treated ourselves to some ice lollies. So all in all it was a lovely day.

The flowers are coming out

Magical Rainbow Canvas

I know I'm probably a bit late on the bandwagon but I have seen this floating around YouTube for a while now and loved the idea, so i decided to have a go at it myself. I have never thought of melting wax crayons ever but it's a brilliant idea. You can do all sorts of shapes and colour combinations together the possibilities are endless. I decided to try out the 'classical' rainbow spectrum with silhouettes of clouds and a vintage style umbrella.
